Artists’ Bios
Kimberly Brunetto is an emerging artist whose creative roots trace back to childhood. She began drawing and writing poetry at a young age, though growing up in a rural Midwest community meant that formal art classes weren’t available. Music, however, was, and she embraced it—choosing the clarinet in elementary school and eventually becoming an accomplished musician. By her mid-teens, she was traveling through Europe with a youth musical group.
In college, Kimberly studied both art and music before ultimately earning a degree in psychology and pursuing a career in education. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education. It wasn’t until after raising her children that she returned to art with renewed dedication, beginning her painting practice about five and a half years ago.
Determined to grow as an artist, she first studied at Art on 30th in San Diego, then immersed herself in intensive training with Nicholas Wilton through his Creative Visionary Program for four years. She also studied with Pamela Caughley in her Art Success Masters program, as well as Suzanne Melrath and Terri Froelich in their Filter and Focus course. Her studies even took her abroad, where she explored landscape painting in Portugal with Andrew Faulkner.
Kimberly’s artistic expression arises from a profound need to give form to her inner life—her personal journey, her search for psychological freedom, and her ongoing path toward self-actualization. Drawing on her background in psychology and education, she approaches painting as both a creative act and a means of discovery. Each work becomes a dialogue between intuition and intention, a layered process through which she explores identity, memory, and transformation.
Her paintings reflect not only her technical growth but also her willingness to embrace vulnerability and risk—qualities that mirror her own evolution as an artist and individual. Through color, texture, and layered abstraction, she creates spaces that invite the viewer to linger, to sense the tension between what is revealed and what remains concealed. She has exhibited in several exhibitions at the Ashton Gallery in North Park.
Katarina Keane is from Stockholm, Sweden, but she has also lived in Moscow, Geneva, London, and Paris. She has lived in San Diego since 1994.
A turning point in her creative journey came when she discovered art journaling. What began as a simple page exploration became a doorway into collage, mixed media and storytelling through layers. That discovery continues to shape her work today.
She has participated in several exhibitions at the Ashton Gallery in North Park.
