Silk Voices

The San Diego Silk Guild is a community of over 30 artists creating, exploring, and designing using silk as an artistic medium. The work for this exhibition will come from at least a dozen members.

All the pieces displayed begin with white silk. The silk is painted with or dipped in various pigments to achieve a beautiful array of effects. The pigments include silk dyes, natural botanicals, acrylics, and more. Many of the artists began their careers using other media and have applied those skills to silk creations; the result is a wide variety of techniques and subject, including paintings, scarves, quilts, and sculptures.
